Role of mineralogical, structural and hydrodynamic rock properties in conduits formation in three distinct carbonate rock types

Adopting sustainable strategies to manage water resources of karst reservoirs requires understand the carbonate rock reactivity that is responsible for formation these reservoirs, as well role mineralogy in conduit formation. To this end, three rocks (chalk, crinoidal limestone and dolomite) with different internal structure are submitted laboratory dissolution experiments by injecting an acid solution under atmospheric conditions various hydrodynamic a homemade experimental device. The core samples characterized petrophysical investigations imagery techniques before after experiments, changes chemical hydraulic properties recorded during experiment. resulting leads preferential conduits increase porosity permeability samples. For types, rate mainly depends on mineral composition, flow initial structural properties. In addition, we observe (i) each type, lower Péclet applied samples, global rate, (ii) condition, chalk have highest smallest rates, respectively, (iii) similar amount injected acid, dolomite than calcite, (iv) high heterogeneities renewal rates induce rates.
